Leupold® & Stevens, Inc. is an American company founded in 1907 by Markus Friedrich Leupold and his brother-in-law Adam Volpel. The company started as a manufacturer of surveying instruments in Portland, Oregon. In the 1940s, it expanded its product range to riflescopes and developed one of the first waterproof scopes. The company then evolved into a leading manufacturer of optical devices of all kinds for outdoor activities and civilian and governmental weapon users.
